Our Story

A vision shaped around the earliest years.

Our Story

St. Carlo Acutis Early Learning Centers were created to extend the mission of Catholic education into some of the earliest and most formative years of a child’s life.

We are building a model that brings together exceptional early learning, authentic Catholic formation, strong relationships, and a deep sense of belonging — beginning in Shelton and designed to grow across the Diocese and beyond.

Vision

To build a new model for Catholic early learning—strengthening families, connecting communities, and creating a lasting path into Catholic education.

Mission

A place where children are known, loved, and free to grow through learning, relationships, joy, and faith.

Our Patron

Who is St. Carlo Acutis?

His Life

Born in 1991, Carlo grew up in Milan and lived many of the ordinary experiences of a young person — school, friends, sports, animals, and a growing interest in computers and technology.

What distinguished him was the depth of his faith and the way he carried it naturally into everyday life.

His Eucharistic Devotion

At the center of Carlo’s life was a profound devotion to the Eucharist. He believed deeply in the Real Presence of Christ and expressed that relationship. His devotion shaped the way he prayed, learned, and understood his purpose.

A Digital Native

Carlo taught himself how to build websites and used those skills to create a digital exhibition documenting Eucharistic miracles from around the world.

Long before digital evangelization became a common idea, he was already using technology as a way to make faith more accessible, share knowledge, and create connection.

Canonization

Carlo died from leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. He was canonized on September 7, 2025, becoming the first saint of the millennial generation.

Why St. Carlo

His story sits at the intersection of faith, formation, technology, accessibility, and encounter. That makes him a meaningful patron for St. Carlo Acutis Early Learning Centers — a young saint whose life shows that the tools of the modern world can be used to invite curiosity, deepen connection, and open doors to faith.

Our Philosophy

Built around a simple idea: it should feel like home.

At the heart of Bishop Caggiano’s vision is a simple idea: every St. Carlo Center should feel like home, a place where children are known, loved, safe, and surrounded by beauty and joy.

That sense of home shapes the classroom, relationships, parish connection, and the way families experience the Church.

Leadership

A shared vision for a brighter beginning.

Guided by a shared commitment to faith, education, and community, our leaders are building a new model for Catholic early learning where every child can grow and thrive.
